Dundee announces extra places available for Primary Education
The University of Dundee is inviting applications from high calibre graduates for the Professional Graduate Diploma in Primary Education course, commencing in August 2013.
The Scottish Government recently announced additional funding for teacher training this year in order to satisfy projected teacher requirement numbers.
The course is suitable for those who have already secured a degree or are expecting to graduate this summer and now wish to enter the field of Primary Education, initially as a classroom teacher. Previous experience of working within a classroom or with children in a voluntary capacity is not essential but may be advantageous.
With a guarantee of at least one year's employment in a Scottish primary school after qualification through the General Teaching Council for Scotland Induction scheme, the majority of graduates continue on as classroom teachers initially while others take the opportunity to move on to areas of management within Schools or other roles in education provision and policy development.
For more information on the course and to check the entry requirements, potential students are asked to visit the website in the first instance: http://uod.ac.uk/primaryed.
Applications are invited through GTTR Extra for anyone who wishes to apply to Dundee for a place and interested parties should apply via www.gttr.ac.uk/students/howtoapply/.
Anyone wishing to make further enquiries is welcome to contact Lorna Buj on 01382 381499 with any queries.
Suitable applicants will be invited to interview in April and successful candidates informed by letter thereafter.
Places are also still available on the PGDE Secondary courses for Mathematics, Physics and Home Economics with more information available on our website. http://uod.ac.uk/secondaryed.
