TEG Talks aim to inspire a generation of entrepreneurs

A group of visiting entrepreneurs will be aiming to inspire the next generation of business tycoons at the University of Dundee later this week.

The Enterprise Gym (TEG), a University initiative to improve students' commercial awareness and entrepreneurial skills, have invited local businesspeople to address students, staff and other interested parties on how they can turn their business ideas into reality at the Dalhousie Building on Friday, 1st March.

The 'TEG Talks' will see the speakers each talk about their experiences and advice for budding entrepreneurs for 20 minutes before a question and answer session takes place with the audience.

TEG President Adrian Binzaru said, "This is our biggest business event of the year and we hope that as well as students a large number of people from the local area turn up to find out how they can turn their ideas into succesful businesses.

"Regardless of age or background, everyone will find something they can aspire to in the TEG Talks. Each talk will be short, snappy and to the point, delivering key advice in manageable chunks. It is sure to be an extremely interesting and motivating event, which should prove useful to all attendees, whether they have previous business experience or not."

The line up of speakers has been chosen to ensure that a variety of business backgrounds and sectors are represented. The visiting entrepreneurs include:

  • Michael Romilly (Waracle App & Game Development)
  • Asim Khan (Ramsay Employment Law)
  • Mhairi Towler (Vivomotion)
  • Iain Landsburgh (Eastacre)
  • David Hamilton (Ninja Kiwi Europe)

The idea for the day derives from the hugely popular TED Talks. These business conferences based around the areas of Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) take place across the globe each year, while an extensive portal of online resources to help talented entrepreneurs realise their ambitions.

The Enterprise Gym is a University initiative to encourage students to develop the skills, confidence and self-reliance that the next generation of entrepreneurs require. Students who sign up can access online training materials, training sessions led by members of the local business community, and a variety of other resources.

The TEG Talks are to be held in Dalhousie Building Lecture Theatre from 11am until 2pm on Friday, 1st March, with a free buffet lunch served at noon.
