Designer Jane Gowans 'pops up' at Harvey Nichols
Dundee-based designer Jane Gowans, one of the rising stars of the jewellery world, has secured a unique collaboration with Harvey Nichols Edinburgh which will see her establish an interactive installation and pop-up shop in the store throughout August.
Jane, a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, will be displaying and selling her latest collection, which was inspired by the discovery of an old photo of her Grandfather in naval uniform.
The collection has already been widely praised and helped Jane to be shortlisted as Accessories Designer of the Year in the Drapers Footwear and Accessories Awards 2013 and as Accessories Designer of the Year in the Scottish Fashion Awards.
'I am thrilled to be working with Harvey Nichols Edinburgh, especially with the Festival also running throughout August and lots of people being in the city,' said Jane.
'I have been working on putting together the installation that will be in place in the shop and it is looking really exciting.'
Jane's latest collection delves into maritime history and culture, translating ropes, knots, compass points and other practical tools of the sea into decorative jewellery designs. Handcrafted in Britain, the timeless designs are made from oxidised silver and 18k rose gold vermeil finishes.
Jane will be in the store for a special event on August 10th. Any purchases on the day will also receive an exclusive hand-embellished illustration of the original Fathom Ring that Jane will create on the day. Harvey Nichols will also be showcasing a one-off luxury Matilda ring worth £3420; made from pure 18k gold with an incredible 40 individually set diamonds.
To coincide with the launch, Harvey Nichols are running their Anchors Away competition to win a silver Liberty Necklace. From August 2nd a series of white anchors will be hidden around the second floor of the shop, and all customers need to do is search for these and say how many they think there are. Jane will reveal the answer and the lucky winner on August 10th.
