Insight into unique theatre studies course - open day, May 3rd
Prospective students on a unique Theatre Studies course at the University of Dundee can take a peek behind the curtain at exactly what it can offer at an open day this week.
The MLitt/Diploma in Theatre Studies, which has been the seal of approval by Hollywood star and University Rector Brian Cox, provides opportunities to study Theatre Design, Writing for the stage and screen, Directing, Theatre criticism and a range of other modules in what is a highly distinctive programme.
The programme uniquely brings together the University's School of Humanities and Duncan of Jordanstone College of Arts and Design, in association with the award-winning Dundee Rep theatre.
Also innovative is the combination of theoretical study with highly practical engagement within a live theatre environment. This will enable students through internships and access to the Rep staff and its facilities to realise in practice and performance the fruits of academic study.
This engaging and innovative MLitt pathway draws on local research, teaching and practice-based expertise, and is already proving popular with potential students.
The Open Day takes place on Thursday 3rd May. It starts at 10am and provides an opportunity to meet the University tutors and staff from Dundee Rep and hear about the programmed modules. Included is lunch, a backstage tour of the Rep, and a ticket to see the afternoon performance of the play, Further Than The Furthest Thing by Zinnie Harris.
The MLitt/Diploma in Theatre Studies commences in September this year.
