The top sports men and women from the Universities of Abertay and Dundee are preparing for their annual varsity clash today (Wednesday March 14th). Four hundred competitors will descend on Riverside, the ISE (Institute of Sport and Exercise, University of Dundee) and Scotscraig golf course in what is the biggest competition to date.
Seventeen contests will be played throughout the day, all the way through to the showcase final between the men's basketball teams at 3.30pm in the ISE Hall 2.
Immediately after this the scores will be tallied and announced in the trophy ceremony at 5pm.
"The Tay Games Varsity Challenge is a real highlight of the sporting calendar and a great example of the vibrancy and high standard of competition currently on show within University sport in Dundee, said Abertay Sports Development Officer, Pete Burgon.
"The Varsity Challenge is an excellent celebration of the friendly rivalry between Dundee's two universities, and a perfect opportunity to showcase the extraordinary sporting talent that Dundee possesses," said Dundee University Sports Union President, Sophie Warburton.
When all is done the teams will meet once more to celebrate the day's successes and commiserate the losses with a few drinks in the Dundee University Students Union. Teams and supporters from both sides are welcome to join the after-party in Liar.
