Game-making explored at computing event
Representatives of three computer games companies will attend the University of Dundee tomorrow night for a public event examining how games are made.
Tone Brennan and Stuart McGaw (Outplay Entertainment), Robert Henning (Tag Games), and James Law (DENKI) will meet games enthusiasts and interested novices at the University's School of Computing on Thursday, 15th March.
As well as sharing the secrets of how games are made, they will give advice to anyone with ambitions of working in the industry. Visitors will also have the opportunity to try out games made by students and staff, and even have a go at creating their own game.
Event organiser Dr Karen Petrie said, "This is a great chance for people to come along and see what's going on at the School of Computing and meet experts from the thriving local games industry. Many of our graduates are working in the industry, both locally and across the world, and we are always keen to encourage others to follow in their footsteps.
"Visitors can learn about the process of creating a game, from the original idea to putting it to market, and even try their hand at making a game for themselves. Everyone is welcome, whether they are an avid gamer, or just curious about computer games."
The event, which is being held as part of National Science and Engineering Week, takes place at the Queen Mother Building from 7-9pm. Entry is free and there is no need to book in advance.
