Students' success on creative loop
Three students from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design are celebrating after they were named winners of Creative Scotland Media Awards.
Kyle Wilson, Michael Zagorski and Pawel Grzyb all picked up prizes at the Creative Loop Student Media Festival 2012, which was held in Glasgow over the past two days, culminating in the awards ceremony last night (Thursday).
Kyle and Michael were named winners of the 'Best Music Video' Award for their film 'Conditions', which was written, directed and produced by the pair.
Michael and Kyle, who has been on an exchange from James Cook University in Australia, are both students in Time Based Art & Digital Film at DJCAD, part of the University of Dundee. Their video can be viewed at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAUV0F9ByR8
Pawel took home the 'Best Use of Interactive Media/Apps/Computer Games' prize for his work 'Fading Community', an interactive study of life in a Dundee tower block which at the time was scheduled for demolition.
His project, which explored life for the few remaining residents in Bucklemaker Court, a 23-storey tower block in Dundee's Hilltown area, has already won a major film prize in Poland.

Peter Richardson, Director of the Visual Effects Research Lab at the College, said, "We are delighted with these latest successes for our students. The awards reflect the growing reputation that DJCAD has as a centre of excellence in the area of digital film and visual effects."

The Creative Scotland Student Media Awards is part of the festival and recognises students who submit high calibre work. The judging panel for the Awards featured industry experts from across the country.
