Author James Robertson to inspire students
Renowned Scottish writer James Robertson, whose novel The Testament of Gideon Mack was long-listed for the 2006 Man Booker Prize, will pass on his expertise to students from the University of Dundee tomorrow.
He will read from, talk about, and answer questions on his novel Joseph Knight with students from the Year 2 English programme at room T9 in the Tower Building from 2-3pm. Joseph Knight tells the story of a Caribbean slave who comes to live in Scotland, and is partly based in Dundee.
James Robertson will also lead a masterclass with Creative Writing students focusing on writing historical novels and writing dialogue in fiction.
In addition to four novels, he is the author of several collections of short stories and poems, runs an independent publishing company called Kettillonia, and is a founder and general editor of the Itchy Coo imprint, which produces books in Scots for children and young people.
