International award for Dundee embryologist
A University of Dundee scientist has been named as the winner of an international research prize recognising his outstanding contribution to reproductive biomedicine.
Dr Steve Tardif from the Centre for Oncology and Molecular Medicine will next week travel to Iran to take part in the 12th Congress on Reproductive Biomedicine, where he will receive the Royan International Research Award for his work in the field of embryology.
Dr Tardif will receive prize money of $5000 and will deliver a lecture on his research into sperm-egg interaction and its relationship with male infertility when he appears at the conference on Thursday, 8th September.
He said, 'I am obviously delighted to receive this award and am looking forward to visiting Tehran and delivering my lecture. It is obviously very nice to be recognised in this way and to be invited to give a lecture to some of the best researchers working in my field from around the world.'
The Royan Institute is an infertility clinic and research facility in Tehran, which has established itself as one of the leading centres of infertility study. The Royan International Research Award was founded by Dr Saeid Kazemi Ashtiani, the late director of the institute, to recognise the efforts of researchers.
This annual award is a prize given to five prominent research projects in the field of reproductive biomedicine, stem cell biology and technology, and other related subjects.
