Staff and students to hand over cash for kids
Photo opportunity: 3pm on Friday, 23rd September at Radio Tay, North Isla Street, Dundee. Staff and students will hand over the cash raised during Bring a Pound To Work Day.
Staff and students from the University of Dundee raised £458 for Radio Tay's 'Cash For Kids' appeal during the charity's Bring a Pound To Work Day earlier this year.
Graham Nicholson from the University’s Careers Service and Rachael Doherty, Vice President of Student Activities at Dundee University Students Association, will visit Radio Tay’s headquarters in North Isla Street to hand over the cash on Friday, 23rd September to Alison Carr of Cash for Kids.
Graham said, 'We are happy to have once again supported Cash for Kids as it’s a well established charity doing fantastic work in this area. Staff and students did their bit and we know the money will be used to help deserving children.'
Rachael added, 'Cash for Kids is a very worthwhile cause and we’re delighted to have been able to help them in this way.'
Cash for Kids Manager, Lynda Curran, said, 'Without the generosity and compassion of local people, we would be unable to help the children who are most in need throughout the local area. The money raised by the University will make a huge difference.'
Radio Tay has been raising money for local youngsters for more than two decades. Cash For Kids was established to channel the caring of a big-hearted community into the welfare of their own youngsters and raised in excess of £200,000 in the Tayside and Fife areas last year.
The campaign assists around 27,000 children and young people most in need or at risk every year. With cash raised locally and spent locally, Cash For Kids guarantees fundraisers that their generous donation will go to bring, hope, healing or happiness to someone in their local communities.
