Plaque unveiling by Professor Pete Downes
The University of Dundee’s decade-long relationship with Zhejiang University of Technology will be celebrated when a delegation from the Chinese institution visits this week.
Dundee has a longstanding relationship with Zhejiang. A memorandum of understanding between the two institutions was first signed in 2001, and renewed in 2008.
The tenth anniversary will be marked with the unveiling of a plaque by Professor Pete Downes, Principal of the University of Dundee, in the Ewing building at the University.
'We have enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Zhejiang and it is one which has brought benefits to both institutions and both countries,' said Professor Downes. 'I am delighted to welcome our visitors to Dundee. Over the course of this week we will be working with our colleagues from Zhejiang to develop ideas for future collaborations.
'It is important that we give our students in Scotland and China the opportunity to learn more about each other's culture and prepare them well for their life as global citizens.'
Each year Dundee welcomes students from Zhejiang on Masters courses run by the School of Engineering, Physics and Mathematics, which has led to the University being recognised as a ‘ZJUT Students’ Overseas Training Centre’.
