Graduation family affair for the Reillys
Photo opportunity - Julie and family will be in the Robing Rooms at City Chambers at 1.30pm today.
Graduation at the University of Dundee tomorrow (Thursday June 23rd) will be a real family affair for mum Julie Reilly and sons Stephen and Sean.
Julie (47), Stephen (24) and Sean (22), who live near Dundee, will graduate at the Caird Hall in the same ceremony after earning their degrees over the past four years. Julie will collect her Fine Art degree, while Stephen and Sean are graduating in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Civil Engineering respectively.
'It is absolutely great that we are able to celebrate this together by all graduating at the same time,' said Julie. 'When Stephen and Sean were starting at University four years ago I thought I might give it a go myself and put a portfolio into the art college.
'I thought then, 'if I don’t do this now then I’ll never do it,' and it has proved to be a great decision. Now we have all made it through and I think it is a great family achievement.
'I have to give credit to my husband Steve as well, who has been a great help to us all.'
Stephen and Sean are both former pupils of Dundee High School. Stephen served his time as an electrician before switching to study at the University, while Sean came straight from school.
Their sister Sarah, a current pupil at Dundee High School, is hoping to follow in mum’s footsteps and pursue her studies in art.
