'A day in the life of a Nursing student' - schools event Tuesday 21 June

School pupils from around Tayside and Fife will be given a hands-on introduction to Nursing at the University of Dundee tomorrow.

Around 40 senior pupils from schools in Fife, Dundee and Perth and Kinross will visit the University’s Dalhousie Building on Tuesday 21st June for the event entitled, ‘A day in the life of a Nursing student’.

'We want to engage with pupils and show them some of the practicalities involved in nursing, and also explain to them some of the career options in the area,' said John Lee, Head of Undergraduate Studies in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Dundee.

To reflect a typical undergraduate day, the participants will be given a lecture on a nursing topic and then, led by current students, they will discuss related topics in small groups.

After lunch, the visitors will take part in hands-on Nursing activities, again led by current students. To conclude the day, the visitors will hear about the diverse careers available in Nursing and also be given information about the application process to study at the University.

The event runs from 10am in the Dalhousie Building, Old Hawkhill.
