New video to entice students to Dundee
The University of Dundee has produced a new promotional video encouraging more people from across the globe to discover why the institution was last week identified as one of the best universities in the UK.
Dundee was ranked as the top Scottish university - and 5th in the UK - in the latest Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey.
The new student recruitment video uses time-lapse photography to highlight the range of facilities, amenities and strengths that the University can boast. E-Recruitment Manager Dr Ramanee Peiris said the video was a way of demonstrating to people around the world why they should consider studying at Dundee.
'Taking a campus tour is a great introduction to the University, but that’s not always practical, here’s the next best thing - a three minute whistlestop tour' she said. 'The time-lapse was shot at several locations across campus over a varied period to capture the campus life at different times of the day and night.
'The footage combines hundreds of images shot over various time periods (from minutes to hours) using a DSLR camera and then played back in a shorter period of time.'
The video can be accessed at

and is also available on the University’s YouTube channel - www.youtube.com/DundeeUniv.
The Student Experience Survey ranks 113 UK universities across all aspects of student life, from academic quality to sports and social facilities. Dundee also scored among the top marks in good social life and extracurricular activities, good student union and library services.
Chris Browne, Deputy President of Dundee University Students Association also urged people to consider Dundee when applying for University.
'This time-lapse video gives you a really good idea of the exciting life on campus at the University of Dundee,' he said. 'The only drawback is that, even with all the footage that was collated, it is never going to be enough to showcase all the great things going on at Dundee University.
'This video gives you a quick glance at campus and the great facilities we have, however the only way to really experience it is to come here.
'To come first in Scotland and 5th in the UK in the THE survey is a great compliment to those on campus dedicated to improving the student experience and maintaining the high standards we set at Dundee.
'The past few years have seen great improvements in areas such as halls of residence, University sport and exercise facilities, employability, the amount of activities offered to students on campus and, in particular, the Library and Learning Centre who have showing a commitment to not only maintaining high standards, but really listening to student feedback.
'DUSA play an important role in the student experience, providing a central hub on campus with excellent social activities and valuable advice and support services. Students welcome the changes the University have implemented and we, at DUSA, at particularly excited about the exciting innovations still to come.'
