Flying and dancing robots will be among the attractions at a showcase of computing teaching and research at the University of Dundee on Friday February 11th.
The School of Computing at Dundee is at the cutting-edge of research and teaching in areas as diverse as computer vision, assistive and healthcare technology, digital media and space technology.
The School also has an excellent track record of partnership with industry, working with commercial giants such as Microsoft, Orange, Yahoo! and NCR. The School sends dozens of graduates into industry every year, including Dundee’s highly regarded computer games and creative industries sector.
All of the teaching and research underpinning this activity will be on show at the 'One School, Many Discoveries’ event in the Queen Mother Building on the University campus from 2pm to 5 pm on Friday.
'This event is about showing off the fantastic range of teaching and research we have,' said Dr Janet Hughes, Dean of the School of Computing. 'Our activities now cross so many boundaries, from being an international centre of excellence in space technology, to research into how computing can help older people and those who are disabled, and systems to interact with the physical world.'
'When we talk about computing now, what we are really looking at is how technology influences and contributes to a wide range of disciplines, from the Sciences to the Arts and the Environment.'
