Two ladies from Kinross who have raised thousands of pounds for charity will make their latest donation to Breast Cancer Research tomorrow (Tuesday April 19th).
Gillian Young and her friend Zoe Tod have been amazing in their quest to raise funds for breast cancer research and in total they have donated £7,000 over the past 2 years. They have held fundraising events including Zumba Classes, raffles and a Health and Wellbeing Day in Kinross which proved very popular.
They will present a cheque for £4000 to Professor Alastair Thompson, a leading breast cancer researcher based at the University of Dundee Medical School.
Gillian Young (40) was a breast cancer patient herself and was treated for the disease at Ninewells Hospital two years ago. "Everyone here at the hospital - the surgeons, the nurses, everyone - was absolutely amazing and I am delighted that Zoe and I are able to help them by raising money," said Gillian. "The research that the University is involved in is doing so much to help people with breast cancer."
The cheque will be presented by Gillian and Zoe to Professor Alastair Thompson at 4pm at the main reception in Ninewells on Tuesday 19th April.
