Careers Service staff to hand over cash to charity

Photo opportunity: 3pm on Thursday, 11th November at Brae Riding for the Disabled, Linlathen Grove, Dundee.

Staff from the University of Dundee’s Careers Service will this week hand over a cheque for £130 to Brae Riding for the Disabled.

The money, raised at a sale of cakes, books, DVDs and other items attended by staff and students last month, will be presented by Karen Sleith and Alison Mackay from the Careers Service to staff at the Brae at 3pm on Thursday, 11th November.

They chose to support the Brae as the two organisations have enjoyed a good relationship over several years, with many students undertaking placements at the centre organised by the Careers Service.

Mary Sneddon, Centre Manager at the Brae, explained what the money will be used for.

'We are delighted that Karen and her team have recognised the great work that takes place at the Brae, and have chosen us as the recipient of the funds raised,' she said.

'We are currently reviewing the equipment we have for our riders, and are looking to buy more special reigns. These have colours on them to make it easier for the riders to identify the bit of the reign that they should be holding on to.

'This is very beneficial for them and helps them get the maximum benefit from their riding lessons. Thanks to everyone who helped raised the cash.'
