Fiona's tablet sales boost for Breast Cancer Research

Main reception, Ninewells.

Breast cancer researchers in Dundee will be presented with a cheque for almost £4000 next week, all thanks to one woman’s magic tablet.

Mrs Fiona Edwards, a receptionist in the College of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee, has raised many thousands of pounds in recent years by selling her homemade tablet at running events around Tayside and Fife.

Over the past year she has made sales of almost £4000, which she will hand over to Professor Alastair Thompson at Ninewells on Tuesday December 14th.

'I'm always surprised myself when I tot up how much money I have taken in, and I have to say a big thank you to everyone who has given money,' said Fiona. 'I've even had people paying me NOT to give them tablet!'

Both Fiona and Professor Thompson are keen runners and have participated in various sponsored running events in aid of breast cancer research. The pair will both be in their running gear for Tuesday’s cheque presentation.

'We are hugely indebted to Fiona for the magnificent contribution she makes to supporting cancer research, and breast cancer in particular,' said Professor Thompson, who is an internationally-renowned researcher in breast cancer.

'I can also vouch for the quality of the tablet, which is delicious!'
