Google 'mentor' visiting Dundee

Jeffrey Ullman, the Stanford University Professor who advised Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, will give insights into developing opportunities in computing science and technology when he visits the University of Dundee tomorrow (October 7th).

Professor Ullman will speak to an audience of academics, researchers and entrepreneurs at the University’s School of Computing.

'Jeff Ullman has played a major role in showing how academic work in computing sciences can be developed into commercial opportunities, both through his work with Google and in creating his own company, Gradiance,' said Professor John Arnott, of the School of Computing at Dundee.

'He will be talking about some of the emerging opportunities in computing science and technology and the possibility for new venture creation.'

Professor Ullman will be speaking at two sessions in the School of Computing’s Wolfson Lecture Theatre, in the Queen Mother Building, the first from 4pm to 6.45 pm and then from 7 pm to 8 pm. The second session will include a keynote speech from Dr Ullman titled 'Google changes the World'.

The events have been organised by SICSA, the Scottish Informatics and Computer Science Alliance.
