Crime writer to appear in Dundee

One of Scotland’s most popular and prolific novelists is set to unleash pandemonium when he appears in Dundee next week.

Christopher Brookmyre will read from his new book, ‘Pandemonium’ and sign copies for fans at the free event, which takes place at the University of Dundee’s Dalhousie Building on Tuesday, November 3rd.

Brookmyre’s highly acclaimed crime and thriller writing has earned him a reputation for brilliantly plotted and darkly hilarious novels with a dark edge. Pandemonium is his 13th book, and Brookmyre’s fast-paced and unconventional crime fiction has won several awards.

Whilst retaining the elements that made him a firm favourite in the literary world, this clever satire marks a new direction for Brookmyre’s writing as it fuses world politics, religion and a group of school kids sent to a counselling retreat to help them come to terms with the murder of a fellow pupil.

As the teenagers attempt to smoke and swear their way through this unorthodox school trip, even more chaotic forces are at work not so far away. In a military experiment that has been pushed beyond control, inner Hell may have been unleashed. For the military, scientific, political and religious bodies involved, a combination of terror and temptation is brought into play.

And what can possibly curb the force of ambition now that Hell is already here?

Christopher Brookmyre will be appearing at the Dalhousie Building from 6pm, and a drinks reception follows the main event. Free Tickets available at the www.dundee.ac.uk/tickets, Borders bookstore, the University’s Tower Reception or by calling 01382 384413.
