Dundee’s Volleyball men celebrate two year unbeaten run
Dundee University’s Men's Volleyball Team are looking to protect an unprecedented unbeaten run this weekend as they prepare for their latest fixture.
The team’s last outing, a 3-0 victory over Robert Gordon University on Sunday, made it two years since they last tasted defeat. The last BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) match that the team lost was on 28th October 2007 when they lost 3-1 to Robert Gordon's.
Following that defeat, the team won the rest of that season’s games, finishing third in the league. They have remained on unbeatable form ever since - last season they won all their matches without dropping a set, and went on to win the BUCS Division 2 title and the Conference Cup.
Promotion to Division 1 has not slowed their progress - they have won their first three games this season, all away from home. In so doing they have continued another amazing streak - they have now not lost a single set, never mind a match, for 23 months.
'The Men’s Volleyball team have become an inspiration to all of our teams at the University,' said Sarah McMichael, President of the University’s Sports Union.
'They deserve to go all the way to the BUCS Championships this March and we will be cheering them on until the end of the season.'
