Lord Provost among guests at teaching event
Dundee Lord Provost John Letford is among the guests who will this Friday hear about the success of a University of Dundee scheme set up to help students contemplating a career in teaching.
The Student Tutoring Programme helps to arrange six half-days of classroom experience, assists students preparing for post-graduate teaching course interviews, and works to ensure that teaching is the right career for the students.
Schools in Angus, Dundee, Fife and Perth and Kinross participate in the programme, which has helped organise placements for 50 students during the current school year.
The University’s Careers Service will be relaunching the scheme for the upcoming year, with a presentation to representatives of education authorities and independent and state schools from across the four council areas.
Lord Provost Letford will be joined by councillors Peter Nield (Angus), Ron Caird (Fife) and Elizabeth Grant (Perth and Kinross) at the event, which takes place at the Baxter Suite, from 12pm - 1pm on Friday, May 15.
