Researchers invited to hear funding talk

The University of Dundee have invited researchers from Abertay and St Andrews to attend a presentation delivered by the director of an influential funding organisation next week.

Professor Shearer West, Director of Research at the Arts and Humanities Research Council will be visiting Dundee on Thursday, May 7th. She will deliver a talk entitled 'Current Challenges and Future Directions for Arts and Humanities Research' at the University of Dundee’s Dalhousie Building at 11am.

The event is open to researchers and representatives from all three universities, and will be chaired by Professor Christopher Whatley, Vice Principal and Head of College of Arts and Social Sciences at Dundee.

Prior to, and directly after making her presentation, Professor West will be meeting AHRC-award holders based at the University of Dundee. She will tour Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design and the College of Arts and Social Sciences visiting researchers who have benefited from funding in recent years, and who will demonstrate how this research is progressing.

Those who attend the presentation will hear Professor West explain the process of allocating funding, and what exactly what the AHRC looks for in grant applications. Attendees will have the opportunity to find out more about how they can improve their chances of successfully applying for awards during a short question and answer session.
