Dundee University Boat Club today handed over a cheque for £1000 to Children's Hospice Association Scotland - the results of their backbreaking 'Row-athon' held earlier this year.

Every year the Boat Club hold their charity Row-athon, a 12-hour non-stop relay row which clocks up hundreds of miles on the rowing machines and thousands of pounds for charity and club funds.

This year the club raised around £2000, with half going to their own funds and the rest to charity. Today Jim Lang, a founder member of Children's Hospice Association Scotland, met club members at the University's Institute of Sport and Exercise to receive the cheque for £1000.

'It was another great effort by the club members at the Row-A-Thon this year and we must give a big thanks to everyone who sponsored us,' said Boat Club president Richard Sawyer.
