Coast author to share experiences in Saturday Evening Lecture
Saturday, 14th March, 2009
Wild, wonderful and sometimes weird locations the length and breadth of Britain and Ireland will be explored in the latest University of Dundee Saturday Evening Lecture this weekend.
Christopher Somerville is the author of Coast and Coast: The Journey Continues, which accompanied the hit BBC2 series’, and he regularly writes about country walks for various publications.
He has spent more than 25 years walking the country lanes, back hills and wildernesses of Europe, becoming one of Britain’s most prolific travel writers in the process.
His book, Britain and Ireland's Best Wild Places: 500 Ways to Discover the Wild, features lyrical descriptions of locations as diverse as overgrown city cemeteries, stormy cliffs and mountains, and remote islands.
In this lecture, Christopher’s sister Julia, a renowned broadcaster in her own right, will interview him about his experiences in the wilderness of Britain and Ireland.
The event takes place in the Dalhousie Building, Old Hawkhill, at 6 pm on Saturday. Admission is free and all are welcome. Free tickets are available from the Tower Building reception at the University, the Borders book store at Gallagher Retail Park in Dundee, and though the University’s online store - www.buyat.dundee.ac.uk.
