Presentation of the award to the winner
Three Town and Regional Planning students at the University of Dundee will tomorrow (Friday) outline their proposals for regenerating the Hilltown area of the city for the final judging of this year’s Dundee City Council Civic Award.
The students were commissioned by Dundee City Council to prepare planning guidance for accelerating the regeneration of the Hilltown and have been asked to produce ideas for the main Hilltown spine area. Given the on-going debate about the best ways to improve Scotland’s shopping centres this is a particularly timely project.
The three students shortlisted for the award are Ulrika Engstrom (Sweden), Beth Galloway (Dundee), and Angela Harper (Gretna). They will make their presentations to Councillor Tom Ferguson, Depute Convener Dundee City Council Planning and Transportation, Ian Mudie, Head of Planning, and Wilma Duncan, Chairperson of the Central Regeneration Area.
The judges will review each proposal before deciding which is the winner of the Civic Award, an annual prize competed for by third year students studying MA Town and Regional Planning at the University.
Presentation of the award will take place in the Town and Regional Planning offices, part of the School of Social Sciences at Level 7 of the University’s Matthew Building.
