Brain Awareness Day at Science Centre
This Saturday, 21st March, leading researchers from the University of Dundee will guide family audiences on a fascinating journey of discovery about our brains and emotions at Sensation science centre in Dundee.
This event is aimed at families and anyone with an interest in science and offers the chance to get involved with some of the leading research taking place in Scotland.
Visitors will be able to find out how their brain works and what happens if it goes wrong. There will be many great opportunities to get involved in hands-on activities and displays prepared by local scientists. One of the experiments on the day will allow visitors to take part in our popular Mindball game, which challenges visitors to be as relaxed as possible, before and after drinking a glass of cola. The participants' will then be able to see if drinking the cola has affected their brain waves.
Dr Jon Urch from the University of Dundee commented, 'This is a great way for people of all ages, especially those with young children, to find out more about how the brain works. We have real researchers who have produced their own displays and they are really looking forward to showing the public their enthusiasm about their latest research. It will be educational, illuminating and, most of all, fun!'
This is a unique opportunity to come and meet 'real life' scientists and learn more about the exciting work they do. Sensation's newest interactive exhibition, Biodiversity, will also be open.
Sensation's opening hours are 10am -5pm everyday and the Brain Awareness Day event is free
with the normal price of admission. For more information call Sensation on 01382 228800
