Event notice - Life Sciences stalwart retires

Photo opportunity: 4pm on Tuesday, June 30th, 2009. Colleagues will gather at the Garland Café, College of Life Sciences, to wish Lynda Connelly all the best in her retirement

A long-standing member of University of Dundee staff will retire on Tuesday, June 30th, after more than 42 years of service.

Lynda Connelly began her career as a technician in the Department of Anatomy, part of what was then Queens College, Dundee, as an 18-year-old in May 1967. She worked her way to chief technician level and, since November 2007, has made good use of her administration skills as Finance Office supervisor for the University’s College of Life Sciences.

Lynda says she is looking forward to her retirement, and has several ideas of how to fill her time. 'I’ll be looking after my grandchildren two-and-a-half days a week, which will be great,' she said.

'Otherwise, there are a lot of things I’m looking at that you just don’t get the chance to do when you’re working. There are Tai Chi and keep fit classes that I’m looking at and I’m also looking forward to doing some walking.'

'I’ve made some great friends here over the years, and I’ll miss them a lot when I retire.'

Colleagues will gather at the Garland Cafe, College of Life Sciences, to bid Lynda farewell and wish her a long and happy retirement.
