Ensuring students degree opportunities
Successful Dundee College students will have more opportunities to go on to study for a degree thanks to an agreement struck between the college and the University of Dundee.
Dundee College Principal Christina Potter and Professor James Calderhead, Vice-Principal, University of Dundee, met in The Space at the college's Kingsway Campus to sign an articulation agreement between the two institutions.
This agreement, which updates previous accords between the university and the college, will guarantee students who successfully complete Higher National Certificate/Diploma courses at Dundee College a place on a degree programme at the university.
'Both the college and the university continue to build on previous agreements of this sort - ensuring students have the widest range of opportunities,' said Leslie Dick, assistant principal, Dundee College.
This sentiment was echoed by Professor Calderhead who said:
'The close link between Dundee College and the University means that students have excellent support in developing their qualifications and careers in this way.'
'For many students, studying for an HNC or HND at College is an attractive way to enter higher education - they can then transfer to a degree programme and build on their initial studies.'
Dundee College students on a total of 16 different disciplines will now have access to 24 different degree programmes.
Among the courses included in this agreement are HND business, from which successful students at Dundee College will be offered a place in third year of the MA business economics with marketing degree course at the University of Dundee.
The range of subjects includes social sciences, business, accounting, engineering, computing, and visual communication/graphic design.
