Literary Salons open for '09
The University of Dundee and Dundee Contemporary Arts have announced a new session of free literary salons, open to all.
The salons are a fun and informal way of meeting those involved in the world of writing and publishing, making connections and new friends. Tickets are available by logging on to www.literarydundee.co.uk and then going to 'salons' or by popping into the DCA or calling 01382 01382 909 900.
The first session takes place on Thursday 5th of February, 4 - 6pm and will give an insight into the world of publishing with Dan Franklin, who started his career at publishers Canongate mailing envelopes and now commissions his own books.
On Thursday 5th March, we welcome an influential and deeply literary writer of beautiful short stories and novels, Zoe Wicomb, who is making a rare appearance to give a reading from her latest novel and to talk about race, identity and what made her a writer
Ali Smith will be appearing on March 26th to tell stories in her own inimitable way. She makes a special appearance in Dundee to read from her work and defend the wonderful tradition of making up stories.
All Salons are from 4pm to 6pm and are presented by Prof. Kirsty Gunn, Chair of Creative Writing, University of Dundee.
