The human face of computing - public lecture January 19th
Professor Richard Harper, a principal researcher at Microsoft, will present a fascinating talk on how computer designers have, over the past 50 years, changed their vision of the people using their systems at a public lecture at the University of Dundee on Monday 19 January.
The lecture, titled 'Changing Humans', will look at how designers have had to change as systems have moved from those that are completely practical, such as designing for cars and traffic systems, to those where the application is more about providing an 'experience', touchscreen phones being an example.
Professor Harper, who is Principal Researcher in Socio-Digital Systems at Microsoft Research, will also explore what these different visions mean for the future of Human Computer Interaction and for computers in society and everyday life.
The lecture will take place at 6pm on Monday (19 January) in the Dalhousie Building,
Old Hawkhill. Tickets are available from Tower Building Reception, Dalhousie Building
Reception or by emailing events@dundee.ac.uk or by phoning 01382 385554.
