The next time that Dundee University Ladies Hockey Club tastes success the celebrations are set to be something special, as the team have already proved that they know how to throw a party.

The squad raised an impressive £3,106 to pay for coaching, new equipment and a possible hockey tour when they organising a very successful ‘Geeks and Goths’ club night at Dundee University Students Association (DUSA) earlier this year.

The party attracted hundreds of students, who dressed up as either a geek or a goth to support the girls’ attempts to raise funds for their side.

'We’d like to thank everyone who came along,' said Treasurer Imogen Manning. 'We wanted to do something fancy dress, and we thought the ‘Geeks and Goths’ idea was a fun one, and that it wouldn’t cost people too much money to get the stuff.

'It was a great laugh. Loads of people came along and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.'

'The girls worked extremely hard to sell as many tickets as they did.' said DUSA President, Andrew Smith. 'This was one of our most successful ever student fundraiser events.'
