Class of ’58 gather for tour of their old college

A class of teachers who started their training in Dundee 50 years ago will gather for a reunion at their old college on Saturday (Sept 6th).

32 teachers will attend the reunion, in one case coming from as far away as Australia.

They will be given a tour of the old Dundee Training College building in Park Place, where they began their teaching training in 1958. The building is now part of the University of Dundee, while the Training College has since become the School of Education, Community Education and Social Work at the University.

'It is going to be great to see everyone again and be back at our old college,' said Mrs Elma McKinney, one of the organisers of the reunion.

The reunion is also helping raise funds for a St Andrews-based charity, the Banulule Leavers Project, which provides education and support for destitute teenagers in Uganda.
