Students have the answers - staff despair!

The inaugural staff v students University Challenge ended in victory for the younger generation at the Dalhousie Building last night.

The student team of Jamie Marshall (Law), Stuart MacKenzie (Law), Bruce Taylor (Biomedical Sciences) and Jordan Smith (Politics) won a dramatic contest on the very last question, sealing a come-from-behind victory.

They left the academic team in despair and there might be some embarrassed faces around certain departments this morning.

For the record, the academic team who fell just short of maintaining a modicum of respect were Professor Pete Downes, Professor Anne Anderson, Professor Trevor Harley and Professor Julie Taylor. They were ultimately let down by their lack of knowledge of current indie bands, much to the bemusement of Principal Sir Alan Langlands, who had correctly identified the Ting Tings in a practice run!

Sir Alan refused to comment on speculation the result may lead to a reshuffle of senior management.

The event raised several hundred pounds for the Diabetes Research Campaign and Youthlink Dundee.
