Medical imaging conference for Dundee
The fast-developing field of medical imaging will be analysed at a major conference being hosted by the School of Computing at the University of Dundee this week.
The 12th annual Medical Image Understanding and Analysis (MIUA) conference is set to attract around 90 delegates from around Europe and the United States to the Bonar Hall on Wednesday and Thursday (July 2nd and 3rd).
The meeting is the main UK forum for research on biomedical image analysis, a growing field which brings together computing scientists, engineers and clinicians in developing systems for interpreting and extracting useful information from medical images such as x-ray, ultrasound and MRI.
"We have a lot expertise in this field, based across the University but particularly in the School of Computing where we have a strong research group in computer vision and image analysis," said Professor Stephen McKenna, who is chairing the conference with Dundee colleague Dr Jesse Hoey.
"There are some exciting things happening as we develop new, more advanced systems of medical imaging and analysis and this is the key event in the UK to bring people together and discuss how we can keep pushing this forward."
Delegates to the conference will be welcomed to Dundee at a civic reception being held in the City Chambers on Tuesday evening at 6.30 pm.
