Kenyan nurses graduating from University of Dundee
Eight nurses will make the long journey from Kenya to pick up their degrees at the University of Dundee today
and add a flare of colour to the ceremony by attending in traditional dress.
Dr Elizabeth Rogerson Head of the Distance Learning centre said, "not only are our Kenya nurses hard working and committed students they struggle hard to self fund their degree studies. This particular group of graduates have completed their degree in nursing despite the recent political turmoil in their country, which has affected some of them personally".
Practising Registered Nurses from over seventeen countries choose the University’s Distance Learning Centre degree programmes because they can remain at work while studying and fit the degree around the development of their practice and patient care services in their own country. This ‘ cultural fit’ is the hallmark of the Dundee programmes.
The Dundee programmes link nurses from around the world into an international community of learning to advance their nursing practice. Building on current success the University is soon to launch an online HeathCare Portal in partnership with Queens University Belfast that will give local and global students in both institutions access to quality assured healthcare education resources.
73 students from across the globe will graduate from the Distance Learning Centre. Two students from America will also take part in today’s degree ceremony.
