I.D. experts gather in Dundee
International experts in facial identification are gathered at the University of Dundee this week for a major conference charting changes in technology and practice.
The University’s Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification is hosting around 90 delegates from over 20 different countries for the 13th Biennial Scientific Meeting of the International Association for Craniofacial Identification conference, which has the theme `21st Century Challenges to Facial Identification’.
"This is one of the major gatherings of experts in this field and is covering everything from identification of the dead to the recognition of faces captured on CCTV cameras," said Dr Caroline Wilkinson, Senior Lecturer in Forensic Anthropology at the University.
"The field of cranio-facial identification is relevant to many important areas, from criminal investigation to historical projects, such as the reconstruction of the face of Bach that was recently carried out at the Centre for Anatomy & Human Identification in the University of Dundee."
Delegates are attending the meeting from across Europe, China, Japan, South Africa, USA, Canada, Australia and Slovenia. The conference lasts until Thursday.
