Dundee University Boat Club will be rowing the equivalent of an Edinburgh to Dublin journey when they take on their annual charity Row-A-Thon this week.
Around 30 DUBC members will take part in the event, which will see them carrying out a non-stop relay row from noon until midnight in the University Union on Wednesday January 30th.
The final hour of the challenge is deemed the `Hour of Pain’ as the team engage in a furious sprint finish to try and tack on as many miles as possible and boost their sponsorship.
Monies raised through their efforts will be split equally between the NSPCC and the Boat Club itself.
"Over the past six years we have raised around £5000 for charitable causes including the Breast Cancer Research Scotland and Caring for Kids charities, and we’re hoping to give a real boost to NSPCC this time around," said Boat Club captain Rich Sawyer.
"We are also needing to raise funds for much-needed new equipment for the club, so it is very much in our own interests to give this a real effort and clock up as many miles as we can."
"It’s a tough task, especially that last hour when you’ve already spent half the day slogging your guts out on a rowing machine in the middle of the Union while your mates are enjoying themselves, but it is well worth it!"
Donations may be left in the DUBC postbox, which is situated in the Sport's Union office, on the first floor of the University Union, or sent to the club at;
