Level 7, Matthew Building, University of Dundee,
Presentation of the award to the winner

Three students from Town and Regional Planning at the University of Dundee have been selected to present their proposals for the future of a number of key industrial sites along the city’s Kingsway route for the final judging of the Dundee Civic Award 2008.

Third-year students were commissioned by Dundee City Council to prepare planning guidance designed to release the potential of a number of prominent industrial sites along the Kingsway, including the former Valentines site at Dunsinane and the former ABB Nitran site at east Kingsway. With recent closures, these sites have become vitally important if future employment and investment in the city is to be assured.

The three students shortlisted for the award are Oonagh Baxter (Co Down, Northern Ireland), Fraser MacKenzie (Forfar) and Garrie Watson (Dundee). They will make their final presentations tomorrow (February 19th) and the winner will be given the award by Councillor Fraser Macpherson, Dundee City Council Planning and Transportation Convener, and Director of Planning and Transportation, Mike Galloway.

Mr Galloway is himself a former winner of the Award.

The presentation will take place in the Town and Regional Planning offices, part of the School of Social Sciences at the University.
