Visit by Eritrean Ambassador, His Excellency Tesfamichael Gehartu
PHOTOCALL Noon, Friday 12th December, Carnelly Building, room 220 - for directions, please call the press office.
The Ambassador of Eritrea will visit the University of Dundee tomorrow to discover more about a programme which helps Eritrean students develop their nursing and health care management skills.
The University has been working in Eritrea for the past 5 years and has seen 4 cohorts of students begin the programmes which are delivered by distance learning with staff from Dundee periodically going out to provide intensive periods of teaching and support. Several Eritrean Ministry of Health staff have visited Dundee to study and improve their skills.
The Eritrean Ambassador, Tesfamichael Gheratu, will also learn about other areas of the University's teaching and research. He will also be giving a seminar on the challenges and prospects facing developing countries like Eritrea at the current time.
Vice Principal, Professor James Calderhead, said "Students in Eritrea are really enthusiastic about their links with the University of Dundee. We look forward to working with them even more in the future and can see many areas where the University can contribute to the development priorities of the country."
