Successful students from the University summer school will be gathering on the steps
Successful students who have attended the 16th annual Access Summer School at the University of
Dundee will be celebrating at a 'graduation' ceremony in the presence of the Lord Provost.
The 2008 course has seen 61 students trying to earn entry to degree programmes across the University, with a record breaking 98% of the students staying the course. Nearly all will now become Dundee undergraduates in September - something that their lack of entry qualifications had previously prevented.
Dr John Blicharski, Course Director for the Summer School, said 'We know how much untapped talent is out there and we are delighted that since 1993 we have helped nearly 1,200 students use this route to prepare and qualify for study at University.'
'Students aged 16 to 60 come forward each year - indeed we already have enquiries for the 2009 course. With the recent high numbers of local redundancies, we are finding more and more people are thinking about using study as their path to new or better career opportunities.'
