Local artist sees his student work put back on show

Photo opportunity: 10.30 am, Wednesday August 27th,
School of Accounting & Finance,
1 Perth Road, Dundee

The University of Dundee’s commitment to placing its collection of artworks on show has brought a pleasant surprise to Angus-based artist Ian Kinnear.

The historic houses Ellenbank and Union Mount, now used by the School of Accounting & Finance at the University, have recently been refurbished, and the corridors and meeting rooms decorated with art from the University collection.

These include Ian’s painting Mending Nets, completed while he was a student at Duncan of Jordanstone College in the early 1960s.

This week he is returning to the University to see his painting hung in its new location.

'We are always committed to putting as much of our collection on show as possible,' said Matthew Jarron, Curator of Museum Services at the University.

'We have around 3000 artworks, many of which are by former students of the art college, and it is especially pleasing to be able to welcome back former students like Ian and let them see that these paintings are still being widely appreciated.'
