Round-the-world adventure comes to Dundee
Adventurer Jason Lewis will relate tales of his 13-year journey around the world when he delivers the latest of the 2008 Saturday Evening Lectures at the University of Dundee this weekend.
Jason completed his circumnavigation of the globe using only human power. Expedition 360 saw him walk, cycle, roller-blade, kayak, swim, row and pedal across five continents, two oceans and two seas.
His lecture will describe in detail his incredible feat as well as outline the objectives of his journey - to promote environmentally friendly travel, world citizenship between cultures and awareness of climate change among young people.
Throughout his journey Jason worked with the x360 support team to visit 863 schools, involving thousands of students from the 37 countries the expedition travelled through in a variety of programs conducted in conjunction with UNESCO's Associated Schools Program Network.
This year’s series of Saturday Evening Lectures has been immensely popular with thousands of people turning out to hear lectures from speakers including TV presenter Dan Snow, author Jung Chang, and Mark Jones, Director of the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Jason Lewis’s lecture `Expedition 360: A Human Powered Circumnavigation of the Planet’ takes place this Saturday at 6 pm in the New Teaching Block, Old Hawkill. Tickets are free and are available from the University Events office - events@dundee.ac.uk or 01382 388046.
