Sir Philip Cohen to lead new £10m Life Sciences Institute at Dundee
The Scottish Government has confirmed a new £10 million life sciences institute for Dundee. The Scottish Institute for Cell Signalling will be led by Professor Sir Philip Cohen.
"We welcome this announcement from the Scottish Government that they are to provide £10 million to form the Scottish Institute for Cell Signalling at Dundee," said Sir Philp.
"Cell Signalling is one of the largest branches of the life sciences and an area of great importance to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Dundee is recognised as a world leader in this field and the new institute will not only reinforce its position but also enable it to develop new strengths in emerging areas of cell signalling that will furnish the major drug targets of the future."
Funding for the new Institute will be provided by the Scottish Funding Council through the University of Dundee.
