Law students reach semi-finals of World competition
A pair of Law students at the University of Dundee proved strong challengers in the World finals of
a major counselling competition.
They were Scotland’s representatives in Bangalore competing against seventeen teams from around the
globe. The client counselling competitions test prospective lawyers' awareness and ability in the counselling
and interviewing aspects of legal practice, which are key skills for all lawyers.
Steven and Bruce’s run through the competition came to an end in the semi-finals where they lost out to
eventual winners Northern Ireland.
"It has been a fantastic experience, but we are slightly disappointed not to have gone all the way to the
final," said Steven, a former President of the Students Association at Dundee.
Steven and Bruce who were coached for the competition by lecturers David Brand and Lynne Mannion, both
from the School of Law. The competition carried a basic theme of human rights.
