International Student Reception
Bonar Hall, Tuesday 25 September at 5.30 pm
The new intake of international students at the University of Dundee will be welcomed to the city on Tuesday evening with a special reception.
Hosted by the University’s Student Advisory Service, the reception offers the opportunity for new international arrivals to find out more about the services on offer to them as well as make some useful contacts from within the University and the community.
In response to the Scottish Executive’s Fresh Talent Scheme, designed to encourage students from overseas to stay and work in Scotland once their studies are completed, the University is keen to introduce their new international students to the local community as early as possible.
Tuesday’s event will provide an opportunity for them to find out more about local international hospitality schemes, the Fresh Talent Scheme, and small business opportunities available through Scottish Enterprise Tayside as well as through the University’s own Enterprise Gym. Tayside Police will offer advice on personal safety issues, and the University’s Job Shop will provide information on part-time working opportunities.
Irene Donaldson, Head of the Student Advisory Service, said, "We are delighted that so many local organisations continue to offer support to our community of international students."
The event is free. Refreshments available.
