Leading breast cancer researchers from the University of Dundee will be urging staff, students and members of the public to `wear it pink’ on Friday October 26th to aid the battle against the disease.
National `Wear It Pink Day’, promoted by the Breast Cancer Campaign, takes place tomorrow (Friday October 26th) and research staff from the University will be among those donning pink on the day and urging others to join them.
Among the research staff urging the public to don pink will be Alastair Thompson, Professor of Surgical Oncology at the University and Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of Breast Cancer Campaign.
"Breast Cancer Campaign support research across the UK and particularly in Dundee, where five excellent breast cancer projects are funded - the most of any Scottish Centre!" said Professor Thompson.
Breast Cancer Campaign is asking everyone in the UK to don an item of pink on Friday 26 October and donate £2 each, so the Charity can continue researching the cure for breast cancer.
A stall will be set up within the main foyer at Ninewells Hospital selling the campaign’s distinctive pink ribbons.
`Wear It Pink’ is the biggest event during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) and since its launch the event has raised £6.6 million.
