New writing required for Dundee book
A University of Dundee book that champions new writing is looking for submissions for the next edition.
New Writing Dundee is produced by students at the University and will feature writing by noted authors such as Kirsty Gunn, chair of Creative Writing at the University, as well as fiction from new and unpublished writers. As the magazine wants to be full of excellent new fiction from as many different voices as possible, it is keen to get submissions from the general public as the new and unpublished will be the main focus of the magazine.
Poems, short stories and extracts are all welcome in this fascinating magazine.
Rachel Marsh, editor of the magazine says, "This is a wonderful opportunity for new writers to be noticed within by a large audience. We are hoping that the magazine will carry a little prestige for the unpublished that are selected for the project, while also being an accessible literary venue for the general public."
Marsh continues to talk about the support the magazine has received already from the community, "The newly established creative writing program at the University of Dundee and the Dundee Literary Festival have been major supporters of the project, and as this is the third year of the publication we are only hoping this sort of support will continue."
Submissions should not be more than 2,500 words in length and can be in any form. They should not have been published before and should be emailed to newwritingdundee@dundee.ac.uk by 11th January.
New Writing Dundee will be available from Waterstones, Dundee, and via the email. Previous editions are available from newwritingdundee@dundee.ac.uk - they cost £1 plus p&p.
