Former Dundee tutor shortlisted for Turner Prize

Staff at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in Dundee are celebrating the nomination of a former colleague for the Turner Prize.

Nathan Coley was a tutor in Fine Art at the College - part of the University of Dundee - until 2005 and also exhibited his own work, including an acclaimed installation looking at Jerusalem Syndrome in 2005.

He is one of four artists on the shortlist for this year’s Turner Prize, the winner of which will be announced in December following the annual Turner Prize Exhibition, which is being staged for the first time at Tate Liverpool.

"We are absolutely delighted to see Nathan on the shortlist for this year’s Turner Prize and we will be rooting for him," said Professor Georgina Follett, Dean of Duncan of Jordanstone College.

"Nathan was a Henry Moore Fellow here in Dundee from 2002 through to 2004, working in a purpose-built sculptors studio with financial support from the Henry Moore Foundation. He had wide influence in the college and with support of the college’s infrastructure made a series of works which have been exhibited internationally."
