New Masters Courses at the University of Dundee

New postgraduate courses being launched at the University of Dundee will place students at the leading edge of new developments in architecture, mechanical engineering and computer animation.

Three exciting new Masters programmes are planned for introduction this September by the College of Art & Design, Architecture, Engineering and Physical Sciences, each of them providing high quality courses in key professional areas.

"This is a really exciting range of courses in areas where we really excel," said Professor Anne Anderson, Head of the College of ADAEPS and University Vice-Principal.

"In each of these areas of architecture, mechanical engineering and computer animation we are right at the cutting edge in developing new programmes, encouraging innovative practice and producing people who can be real leaders in their respective disciplines."

The University is committed to increasing its range and number of postgraduate courses over the next 3 ½ years, offering new programmes to students across a number of disciplines.

The MSc Architecture - Advanced Practice Management aims for students to acquire advanced knowledge and skills in the professional, contractual and management procedures required to achieve good and appropriate architecture and a deep understanding of the role of the professional architect in the total building process.

Mechanical engineering graduates can look forward to continuing their studies at Dundee with the MSc Design for Medical Technologies. Research within Mechanical Engineering & Mechatronics at Dundee is focused primarily on medical technologies, with existing projects focussed on biomaterials, tissue engineering, bioengineering, surgical tools and biomedical implants. The new Institute of Medical Science and Technology (IMSaT) in the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences will provide fascinating opportunities for students and research projects in surgical instrumentation, devices and medical imaging.

Building on other exciting activities within Duncan of Jordanstone, the main aim of the proposed new MSc 3D Computer Animation is to enable students to develop advanced skills, knowledge and understanding within the field of 3D computer animation. With 3D computer animation now accounting for most commercial animation, Dundee is placing itself at the forefront of providing core skills for the film and games industries.
